Camping prices in La Tatacoa

The prices of the camping areas in the Tatacoa Desert vary depending on whether or not you have a tent and if you want to include any of the other services offered in the place you choose.

The general prices for camping in the Tatacoa are as follows:

• If you bring your tent, you can rent the space to set it up, and you will pay between 15,000 and 25,000 Colombian pesos per person (between 3.50 and 5.60 USD approximately).
• If you require the tent, you can rent it for between 50,000 and 65,000 Colombian pesos per person (between 11.30 and 14.70 USD approximately).

Note: You will pay the lowest rate in places without access to a swimming pool.

Tips for camping in the Tatacoa Desert

• In places where it is impossible to camp indoors, we recommend setting up your tent in shaded areas. Otherwise, you will not be able to stay inside the tent during the day because of the intense heat.
• At night the temperature drops considerably, so it is advisable to bring something to cover yourself. It can be a light blanket.
• Try not to eat food inside the tent; if you do, avoid watering it as you may attract insects.
• Carry a flashlight with you. Visibility in the desert at night is quite limited.
• In many camping areas, charging mobile devices can be a problem, so we recommend you to keep a battery in your cell phone or carry an external battery.
• Always shake your shoes before putting them on again (they may have insects in them).
• Although camping camps are safe areas, do not leave valuables inside the tent when you are not there.

The best season to visit the Tatacoa Desert and enjoy nights with clear skies is between June and October, with July being the clearest month of the year (you can enjoy nights with good sky visibility).
